The ICSC Speed Selling Competition

Get Ready to Sell Yourself!

The purpose of the Speed Selling competition is to demonstrate professional speaking and presentation skills in front of potential employers with the objective to shine in a high-pressure situation.

Speed Selling Schedule

The process for the Speed Selling competition is as follows:

  1. This year, all speed selling competitors will sell themselves to Dexian in Round 1. More information can be found below (coming soon).
  2. Two competitors from each university can participate. Role play and sales management case competitors, or any additional students (alternates) you choose to bring may compete in speed selling (however, alternates are not reimbursed for travel).
  3. Before the event, competitors should research the company and the job being advertised (see below).  The objective is to get an appointment for that job (see below).
  4. Competitors prepare and practice a 90 second (max) elevator speech given to company representatives at the event. The speech should incorporate the criteria found in the Round 1 Speed Selling Score Sheet found here.
  5. A few days prior to the competition, students will be assigned to a specific group of competitors, with which they will be competing for a spot for the final round.
  6. For consistency, each group of speed selling competitors will be judged by the same group of judges.
  7. The competitors with the top 2 scores in each group will go to the Speed Selling Final Round on Saturday morning with public viewing available.
  8. The Speed Selling Final will consist of a 120-second (max) elevator speech. However,  students will represent Dexian in the final round and speak as if they are seeking an appointment with a potential customer. The Final Round Speed Selling Score Sheet can be found here.
